Not Enough Champagne

Come for the political analysis, stay for the bad jokes and wrong predictions. Not Enough Champagne is run by Steve Haynes, who in a previous life was a Parliamentary Candidate for the Liberal Democrats, and Cory Hazlehurst, a Labour activist who has written about politics for the New Statesman. We try to work out what the hell is going on with British Politics and take a step back to shed new light on issues most news outlets don't talk about.

Not Enough Champagne is taking a very brief holiday, so please enjoy this episode covering the best of our content in 2016, uploaded in full for the first time. We will return with a new episode on Tuesday.

Dave Depper designed our theme tune and James Cram designed our logo.

Feb 11, 2018

In this episode, we discuss how a Labour government should outsource public services. Should everything just be brought back in-house, and what exactly is going on at Haringey council?

Our theme tune is Plucky Good Times by Dave Depper, and James Cram designed our logo.

Feb 4, 2018

In this episode, we discuss why Britain has had so many directionless governments over the past 25 years. Are there any parallels between Theresa May's administration and those of Gordon Brown and John Major? If so, what do they tell us about the future of British Politics?

The NHS is one of Britain's most popular and essential institutions, so how did we get to the point where the NHS looks like it's on the verge of collapse?

This week, Cory and Steve delve into the debate on healthcare and ask, what's wrong with the NHS, how can we solve its problems and how on earth did Jeremy Hunt not get sacked during the Cabinet Re-shuffle.

In this episode, Steve and Cory discuss Devil's Bargain, Joshua Green's book about Steve Bannon, Donald Trump, 2016 and all that. We talk about how World of Warcraft made Donald Trump Presdent, how he could have run as a different type of Republican (ie not a racist) and the bullshit factory that is Breitbart news.

***Minor correction: In the intro we say that Bannon called Trump Jr's meeting with the Russians treasonous, evil and wrong. He didn't say it was evil, but did call it unpatriotic.***

Also, this was recorded a couple of weeks ago, which in Trump terms is about 43 years. So there's no references to the government shut down or Trump's remarks about various African countries.

James Cram designed our logo and Dave Depper is responsible for our theme tune.

We taked about Article 50 in 2016, and the divorce bill in 2017, so what will the big issues about Brexit be which we talk about this year?

Our theme tune is Plucky Good Times by Dave Depper and our logo is designed by James Cram.

Jan 10, 2018

In this Midweek Shot, Steve and Cory attempt to think who they think will be the most influential players in British Politics this year.

A new year brings a new series of Not Enough Champagne. In this episode, we discuss what the resolutions should be for Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn. Will the Conservatives be able to stop making everything about Brexit and build a new agenda? Can Labour get Momentum to organise for the local elections? Also, can the Liberal Democrats find a way to make themselves relevant. Listen to find out what else should happen (but probably won't) in 2018.

James Cram designed our logo and Dave Depper produced our theme tune Plucky Good Times.
